A short film on Zunar’s struggle to fight injustice and corruption through his cartoons was recently aired on French television.

The five-minute short film titled, “9/43: Zunar, héraut de la liberté d’expression en Malaisie” translates to “9/43: Zunar, messenger of freedom of expression in Malaysia”.
The title is taken from the recent nine sedition charges against Zunar for tweeting his cartoons a year-ago, an act which can see him being sentenced to prison for 43-years under the draconian Sedition Act 1948.
Sophie Lemière and Guilhen Schwegler who jointly directed the film showcased Zunar drawing while explaining about his struggle in battling corruption and injustice in Malaysia.
The film was also interspersed with some of Zunar’s recent cartoons.
