ZUNAR JOINS EDWARD SNOWDEN TO DISCUSS FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION

Political cartoonist Zunar is set to join renowned whistle-blower and cyber security expert, Edward Snowden as a panellist for an upcoming forum on freedom of expression.

The three-day forum titled, “Freedom of Expression in a Changing World: What Cannot Be Said” to be held at the University of California, Irvine, from January 22 to January 24 will see Zunar speaking on the colonial Sedition Act used to stifle the freedom of expression in Malaysia.

The forum, held to coincide with the first anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo attacks in France, aims to study and discuss the parameters of freedom of expression on campus, on the internet, in journalism, and in a rapidly changing world.

Edward Snowden, is scheduled to appear via webcam along with his biographer, the prize-winning American journalist and author Barton Gellman.

Among the other speakers include internet freedom advocate Rebecca Mackinnon, Mexican-American cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz, political cartoonists Matt Bors, Steve Brodner, Ann Telnaes.
